Number and Number Sense Standards
Number and Number Sense (SOLS)
6.1 The student will identify representations of a given percent and describe orally and in
writing the equivalence relationships among fractions, decimals, and percents.
6.2 The student will describe and compare two sets of data, using ratios, and will use
appropriate notations, such as a/b, a to b, and a:b.
6.3 The student will
a) find common multiples and factors, including least common multiple and greatest
common factor;
b) identify and describe prime and composite numbers; and identify and describe the
characteristics of even and odd integers.
6.4 The student will compare and order whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, using
concrete materials, drawings or pictures, and mathematical symbols.
6.5 The student will identify, represent, order, and compare integers.
*from the Virginia Department of Education Website
Kid Language:
6.1 Will be able to find the equal fraction, decimal, percents
6.2 Will know how to compare two set of data them turning it into ratio
6.3
a) find common multiples and greatest common factors
b) Tell if a number is prime or composite even or odd
6.4) compare whole numbers fractions and percents using different methods
Number and Number Sense NCTM Standards
Students compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents efficiently and find
their approximate locations on a number line
Students develop meaning for integers and represent and compare quantities
with them.
Kid Language:
Come up with good, working ways to compare and order fractions, decimals, and percents
Understand integers and be able to show and compare them.
